Perennial abyss walkers Sunn O))) reissue their third LP on Southern Lord. As you might expect, 2002’s Flight Of The Behemoth is a crushing record of pitch black drone doom straight from the gaping depths of a sunken continent. That said, it’s a record of firsts for the duo. ‘O)))Bow 1’ and ‘O)))Bow 2’ features production by Japanese noise-merchant Merzbow, who nimbly accompanies the din with jarring piano and the brutal scrawl of harsh noise. Meanwhile, ‘FWTBT’ sees Sunn O))) reinterpreting a Metallica track by utilising drum machines and their own vocals for the first time.
