Shackleton teams up with Vengeance Tenfold for Sferic Ghost Transmits, the first new material from the duo since 2012's Music For The Quiet Hour. Containing six tracks of deliciously spine-tingling, yet rhythmically chilling concoctions, they club together to form some of the finest multifunctional Skull Disco heavy tracks since they first came face to face for SKULL009. Utilising their different strengths, Vengeance Tenfold's slowly unfurling vocal licks that delves deep into the swirling realms of soundsystem culture from which Shackleton first came.
The Flaming Lips part with Warner and join Bella Union for their new studio album Oczy Mlody. Produced by the band and their long-time producer Dave Fridmann, it follows their 2014 Beatles tribute album and their 2013 opus The Terror. Showing no signs of faltering in their characteristically exuberant style, Oczy Mlody sees The Flaming Lips return to their experimental best, shocking and satisfying in equal measure as they tease and test expectations at every turn.
If with his 2015 EP Axioms, Throwing Snow aka Ross Tones had already convincingly demonstrated his talent for channeling organic processes in his music, his follow-up album, Embers, brings this ability to perfection. Like his debut, 2014’s Mosaic, Embers is released via Fabric’s Houndstooth, and while Tones has been active since 2007, it is those releases that have been clearly shaping his aesthetic as a producer.
