Sunn O))) return with the awesomely titled Life Metal, their first LP in four years. On Life Metal Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson channel … well, a life of metal. Across a quartet of tracks that span more than an hour the group take their transcendent drones into a space that is beatific, troubled, overwhelming and transcendent all at once. Help comes from Hildur Guðnadóttir (Múm, Pan Sonic) and Tim Midyett (Silkworm, Bottomless Pit), artists who help to take the band’s sound to an even deeper place than usual.
