Ever the one for innovation, Icelandic singer Bjork's sixth album was to be a breathtaking orchestration of the voice - comprised almost entirely from acapellas and human voices layered, sampled and re-arranged. The album's title comes from the medical term for bone marrow in Latin, and throughout Bjork works with the bare bones of the human voice, its delicate nuances and her distinctive gift for melody producing what is arguably on of her boldest, and certainly her most intimate, studio albums.
