Oren Ambarchi reunites with Johan Berthling and Andreas Wherliin of the Swedish experimental trio Fire! for the second edition of their Ghosted series on Drag City. Minimalist groove is the name of the game here once again, but Ambarchi, Berthling, and Werliin use that subtle framework to stretch out even further this go around, folding in jazz, funk, ambient, and drone into their beguiling improvisational chemistry. While best heard collectively, Ghosted is undoubtedly centred around the remarkable ‘tre’ which pairs a tranquillising guitar line that slowly unravels into chaos in front of a jazz strut to great effect.
