New Zealand-born producer Air Max ’97 returns to Timedance for further adventures in protracted rhythm. Already well known for his grimy, sub-loaded take on left-field techno, the two tracks on this disc experiment with super-energised beats, both digitised and acoustic. What’s more, Air Max has ditched the reverb-laden pads of his last outing in favour of up-front programming. ‘Eat The Rich’ is an all-timer, a frenetic slice of kind-of-gqom rhythm led by a rollicking drum roll and steely scythes of pitched percussion.
