Dun dun duuuun. New Timedance! And new Lurka at that! The Bristolian mainstay twists up his sound even further on the Rhythm Hi-Tek EP, his first drop on Batu’s label since 2018’s ‘Heat Mover’/‘Battery’ split. These tracks sound like a set of dancehall, techno and electro vinyl have been left out in the midday sun, the wax warping and intermingling with the records either side to create strange hybrids that are hot to the touch. The title-track and ‘Minds Eye Tript’ roll forward on spun-out dancehall-adjacent, ‘Point Noise Behavious’ sputters and slams like your favourite Walton jam, and the brilliantly-named ‘Ssppeedd’ makes good on the promise of its title. Highly recommended!
