Bristol-based producer Lurka makes his Black Acre debut with a percussive-heavy take on techno. An infectious marching beat drives ‘Holding’ forward. Along the way more and more rhythmical elements join in: rattling, zipper sounds and bells build up on prominent hi-hats and whisking synths. Almost like replicating exotic bird song, the piping whistles set the scene for the equally drumming ‘Nah So’. In ‘KMT’, Lurka opts for a cleaner production surface. Although the percussive elements – again – stand out as its character determining feature.
