'Drinking Gasoline’ was released in 1985, taking four songs from the group’s ‘Gasoline In Your Eye’ videocassette, which remains standout in Cabaret Voltaire’s strange yet illustrious career. This re-release by electronic bastion Mute pairs the two together, remastered by Pole. ‘Ghost Talk’ is worth the owning alone, managing to bring together a robust disco funk and slap bass with surreal distorted voices and synthetic squelches. On ‘Sleepwalking’, synthetic brass add a sense of bizarre grandeur to a similarly mauling template, while ‘Big Funk’ promises no let up with swooping machine noise escaping from a pummelling industrial drum workout.
