Bridging the gap between club and composer, Jlin follows up her 2021 Embryo EP with the complete Perspective suite that saw her collaboration with Third Coast Percussion shortlisted for the 2023 Pulitzer Prize. This mini album is a total whirlwind of percussive fractures and zipping filtered synths, with visceral details at every corner that are somehow minimal yet vertigo-inducingly maximalist at the same time. A new focus on organic drums takes the frenzied thunks of Jlin’s footwork origins into a gamelan scale stampede, while adding glistening melodic and harmonic structures to her ever evolving sound.
