Ahead of his next album Hypnotized, DJ Manny drops a varied suite of footwork centred productions with his Control EP. Manny zeroes in on the scene’s characteristic rapid rhythms, slows them down, and throws them into softer palettes. ‘Control’ is squeaky and glistening with cut up string samples and trap-flavoured beats, joined by the pastel twitches of ‘Spaceship’ and its hip hop tinged electronica. ‘Let It Break’ is a lush jungle cut styled after the classics, while ‘Time Travel’ is a silky round of synth funk, where ecstatic footwork rhythms meld seamlessly with the syrupy retro ambience like they were made to be.
