Five years on from their last EP, the debut album from MUN SING comes with a deeply personal background. Motivated by the loss of Harry Wright’s father, Inflatable Gravestone explores grief and spirituality in its disjointed mechanical rhythms and hyperventilating vocal cuts, reminiscent of their more rave-centric work in Giant Swan with heightened emotionality. Zither plucks, high pitched helium synths, and rapid percussive fills swirl throughout the album, grounded by the dark pounds of piano chords, bludgeoning beats that will knock the wind from you, and the “apocalyptic hallucinations” of lyrics lifted from their father’s journals.
