Debut album on Planet Mu for the footwork producer Jerrilyn Patton aka Jlin. Based in Gary, Indiana, Jlin first came to light on the Planet Mu’s Bangs And Works Vol 2 compilation in 2011. This release sees footwork stripped back, sinister and without the staple footwork diet of sampling. Tracks like ‘Guantanamo’ are heavy and pummeling with kicks, clicks and repetitive vocal snippets with stern statements such as “leave me alone”. ‘Black Diamond’ heads some steady marching rhythms whilst ‘Infrared (Bagua)’ is strong and minimal. ‘Expand’ sees Patton collaborate with the RVNG-affiliated producer Holly Herndon with its rolling bassline and vocal manipulations.
