Her status as a modern poet laureate of rock firmly set in the public consciousness, PJ Harvey showed that there were still many heights to scale with 2004’s Uh Huh Her. Her sixth album is stellar Polly Jean of the highest order, the grunge sound of her 1990s output polished to a beautifully blemished sheen on the likes of ‘Shame’ and ‘You Come Through’, the latter song expanded by the presence of clattering marimba and fragile strings.
