Depending on who you ask, 2005’s The Rescue is either Texas post-rock quartet Explosions In The Sky’s fourth album, or their so-called ‘secret’ album. Inspired by the length of time the group spent waiting for the transmission in their tour van to be fixed, designating a track to each passing day (see ‘Day Three’ for a travelogue style document of their time in suspension, as well as invoice of the repair costs) The Rescue a work of moving transience, a snapshot of time spent in unexpected spaces. It marks the 21st volume in label Temporary Residence Ltd’s limited edition Travels in Constants release series, only available via mail order or at the group’s shows.
