A piece of fan art here that almost eclipses its influence, Larry Heard’s 1996 alternate score to Alien is less of a tribute to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi masterpiece and more a voyage into groundbreaking ambient territory. This double vinyl reissue care of Heard’s own Alleviated label at last sees the fuller CD track-listing transferred to wax: sweeping laser synths on ‘Micro-Gravity’; dreamy, quivering pads on ‘Galactic Travels Suite’ and hi-hat led melodies on ‘Cosmology Myth’. A future collector’s item for sure.
