Sub Pop gives the royal treatment to an essential document in ambient metal with this 30 year anniversary edition of Earth’s second LP Earth 2. Rendered lovingly in sound and presentation (the album’s original artwork including the horses and camping people in the right hand corner is restored), this “special low frequency” version provides a little more clarity and rhythmic heft, drawing the listener towards Dylan Carlson’s heavenwards riffs and the valleywide space they created in their wake. Also included are several remixes including a harrowing, feedback-laced run through ‘Seven Angels’ by The Bug and Flowdan, and an equally nasty and destructive industrial take on ‘Teeth Of Lions Rule The Divine’ by Justin K. Broadrick that leans closest to his JK Flesh project.
