'The Bees Made Honey...' is the sixth studio album from Dylan Carlson's doom-metal stormtroopers, Earth. Heavily detuned riffs grind and sedated drums roll through seven, epic tracks titled 'Omens And Portents', 'Engine Of Ruin', 'Hung From The Moon' and so-forth. Here they are accompanied by a fuller range of instrumentation, organ piano and strings at times, like a more psychedelic version of Ry Cooder's 'Paris Texas' soundtrack. ''The Bees Made Honey...' is the sound of the deep, gothic south and an ode to the haunting, bourbon-tinged delta-blues that sold it's soul in the early 20th century. Out of the strong came forth sweetness - masters of their craft indeed.
