Despite being released two decades after his Gherkin Jerks and Fingers Inc projects, the three track EP 25 Years from Alpha stands up to the very best of Larry Heard’s back catalogue. Ask anybody who knows their stuff when it comes to house music and it’s a given that Mr. Heard will be right up there at the top of the list. His signature style has seen various guises over the years, incorporating jackin’ drum tracks, anthemic acid house jams and so-smooth-it-hurts deep house (think You’re Someone Special), but you can instantly tell when it’s him you’re listening to.
