First presented for the Version City label back in 2002, Oneida’s formative double vinyl release ‘Each One Teach One’ is issued this time round as a coloured vinyl on Jagjaguwar. Acknowledged as a classic work in the arenas of noise and psychedelic music, the group’s experimentations with repetition on ‘Each One Teach One’ can be first spotted on the album’s introductory track, which clocks in at fourteen minutes (along with ‘Antibiotics’, ‘Sheets of Easter’ consumes one whole side of the vinyl). ‘Sheets of Easter’ is an intense exploration of sound, a song formed by reiterating single words phrases and the same short musical expression for almost a quarter of an hour. For those sick of formulaic rock bands, Oneida offers something unique in the ilk of space rock pioneers Hawkwind.
