After six years away, Planet Mu label boss Mike Paradinas has dusted off his µ-ZIQ guise with this new EP that references Kuedo, Ital Tek, Polysick and all the other cult electronic acts his label’s helped champion. A primer for an album due in late June, ‘XTEP’ is a gloriously mixed bag, with seductive trance synths on ‘Pulsar’, breathy and luscious IDM drums on ‘Monj2’ and piano-edged electronica on ‘New Bimple’. As exciting a return for electronic enthusiasts as MBV was to people with fringes.
