Originally released in 1966, ‘The Great San Barnardino Birthday Party and Other Excursions’ was the fifth album to come from legendary guitarist and composer John Fahey, and the forth on his own Takoma label. Of particular interest, for marking the beginning of Fahey’s interest in his recording of more experimental soundscapes and sound effects. Although Fahey was very vocal about his distaste for the 1960s’ counterculture, it is the album most often referred to as his more psychedelic.
