Master American guitarist John Fahey had a spellbinding career, marked by prolific output and an ability to reshape what could be done with roots guitar music. Four Men With Beards press up this classic album of sixties psych for your pleasure. The Great San Bernardino Birthday Party & Other Excursions was first released in 1966, on his own Takoma imprint. It pointed the beginning of Fahey's interest in recording of soundscapes and sound effects; the rural, suburban America around him. Despite Fahey's distaste for the 1960s counterculture, it is his release most often referred to as psychedelic. Twitchy, nervy, far-out guitar psychedelia never sounded this sweet.
