The notions of clear boundaries explode into digitised rubble across Boundary Object, Gábor Lázár’s second offering for Planet Mu. Composed of eight numbered, unedited live tracks, Boundary Object is a hard pivot from the Hungarian producer’s ordered 2020 effort, choosing instead to relish in its controlled chaos. “Boundary Object II” repeatedly assembles into some kind of shape before dissolving into staticky blasts, only to pay off with hints of mutant rhythm on “III” and “IV.” In stark contrast to the serenely empty room on its cover, Boundary Object is digital abstraction, total abandonment of form, and all the more exciting for it.
