Germany’s karsten pflum makes his debut on the Central Processing Unit label with a new EP entitled Liars. After a celebrated run of EPs on the likes of Furthur Electronix and Worm Interface among others, the Danish born pflum takes a (slight) detour away from the dancefloor here on Liars, adding some tasty abstraction and whimsy to his usual blend of hard cutting intercontinental electro to great effect. Opener ‘WAN1’ sets the tone from the jump, pairing Detroit-style machine funk with pumping breaks that charge straight ahead, but break apart and reassemble at odd angles. pflum adds more hyperactive breaks and angular synths elsewhere, but it's the downright queasy halftime closer ‘Balm’ that is anything but.
