Given there isn’t really enough time in the day for Kode9 to release a ‘proper’ solo disc — what with all the remixing for Mr. Fingers and Burial, along with the Diggin In The Carts collection of pioneering video game music — we’re not surprised it’s taken around five years for The Jackpot EP to surface. True to form, however, many of his extracurriculars inform this sharp twofer of boundary-breaking future garage numbers. The title track begins with nightmarish strings emitting from somewhere south of clubland, while ‘Rona City Blues’ sets a sputtering cyber-jungle beat against a smoothed surface of pads.
