Further expanding the Astro-Darien universe, Kode9 follows up his Escapology soundtrack with its sonic fiction companion, released on Hyperdub’s spoken word sublabel Flatlines. Reckoning with the darker side of Scottish history and exploring its potential futures, Astro-Darien follows Panamanian games designer Guna Yala as she finds herself in the middle of the Scottish space race, envisioning an off-world utopia to escape Britain’s intensifying bleakness. Robotic narrators are underlined by musical passages loaded with anxiety and curiosity, featuring imbroglios of metallic whines, frozen notes, and glitching news reports.
