1996’s Spiritchaser was the last studio full-length Dead Can Dance released before going on indefinite hiatus. It’s a shame that they called time when they did - the group’s eighth LP contains some of their most impressive songwriting. Numbers like ‘The Snake And The Moon’ and ‘Song Of The Dispossessed’ incorporate slinky Cuban-inspired grooves into Dead Can Dance’s grandiose, synth-heavy style. Contemporary ears will draw a line between this and David Bowie’s Blackstar.
