Fluxion’s long and fruitful relationship with Echocord continues with this classy three-track. Upsides & Sideways is the sort of work you get when a producer is confident in their ability and feels like they have little to prove. ‘En Route’ and ‘The Place’, the two rollers here, both coast along effortlessly, unspooling like threads of wool across their lengthy run-times. It’s classic Echocord fare while also recalling the soft, pillowy deep house of Moomin. The feeling of assurance extends to measured closer ‘Flick’. The track’s kick-less groove allows for more space for the plumes of sub bass to grab your attention, and coupled with the sombre synth undulations in the high registers the effect is of early James Blake collaborating with Axel Boman.
