Five years on from Scott Monteith's last solo album as Deadbeat, a beacon of hope mediated by friendship, he explores the world's collective grief since then and purges it on the dancefloor with Kübler-Ross Soliloquies. The five stage model of grief forms a narrative arc for the album's organic dub rhythms, travelling along nocturnal paths before delving into electronic vapour and vigour. ‘Tough Love’ is a whirlwind of leftfield percussive stabs, quelled in the synth spray of ‘Things Fall Apart’ and bathed in uplifting renewal in the album's latter duo of tracks.
