Despite being ostensibly a children’s series, it’s a testimony to the continued relevance of Finnish writer Tove Jansson’s politically-minded book series The Moomins that, even in the heyday of post-punk, their discreet power captured the minds of composers the world over. Two such examples — countercultural theatre performers Graeme Miller and Steve Shill — banded together to soundtrack the psychedelic 1982 TV adaptation with deep synth moods and playfully haunting melodies.
