Infrastructure New York continue to pay their respects to one of their city’s techno kingpins with the third rerelease in a series of reissues from Dave Sumner AKA Function’s flawless back catalogue. First cut ‘Isolate’ is stripped from the 1999 Reinforced EP and displays Sumner at his dark, steely finest yet the next piece ‘Montage’ is a classic and the undisputed winner on this side, taking no prisoners with its mutating industrial barrage and frosted chord stabs, if you haven’t heard this out in a club you’ve been going to the wrong places. The B-side plunges into Function’s Sandwell District days, with the hypnotic dub pulses of ‘Immolare’ taken from the group’s mythical Feed Forward LP and the harder hitting perpetual drive of ‘Descending’ both featuring.
