One year after their incredible self-titled debut LP, Chicago duo Acteurs are back on Public Information with a noisy collection of gloomy, experimental works under the title I W I. The duo leads off with a tension-laced, dungeon-dwelling drone in ‘Pride Of The Classes’ with faint screams creating an unsettling effect, whereas ‘Ewe’ is a stripped exercise in dark, muffled electronics. Next ‘Honey Bare’ begins over a stark pulse before imploding into a crackling pile of Whitehouse-styled noise whilst the insistent stomps and swirling dub chords lend a harrowing touch to ‘River Card’. Finally we land on the title cut ‘I W I’ – a throbbing concoction of bass throbs, feedback and deadpan vocals.
