Following their 202 WH019 compilation, the enigmatic Withhold crew bring us another album of various unknown artists for their 20th release, corralling a range of acid washed electro, techno, and breakbeat tracks where synth stabs go from soft reverberations to buzzing distortions. Fizzing splatters of paced out breaks and glossy scintillations open ‘I Want To Believe’, setting up the more organic rhythms of ‘14.3’ where muted plucks and synthetic sighs add emotional tension. ‘Such A Night’ charges ever forwards with upward arpeggios and boxing electro beats, meanwhile synth timbres commune over swishing rhythms on ‘Came Echelon’, detailed to the micro level.
