Pioneer of glitch and dub electronics, Stefan Betke aka Pole returns to Mute for further explorations of memory and loss. Tanzboden leaps from where 2020’s Fading left off, cascading down into further mediations in minimal dub. Constellations of blossoming percussive hypnotism inform the disc’s title track, as leads wail and moan over thick, foggy atmospherics. Meanwhile, ‘Rost’ finds rhythm in granular whirring, sounding like a fax machine recording slowed down to accompany a pace-keeping digital ride cymbal. Pole's sonic endeavours freeze the linear march of time with harmonious and beautifully layered dub techno studies.
