Top tier minimalist electronica from German artist Thomas Köner - often cited alongside Wolfgang Voigt’s Gas project as a pioneering force in contemporary ambient music created via electronic mediums. It could more accurately be described as environmental rather than ambient, given the depth and scale of each of its beatless but impactful creations. Following in the icy northern hemispheric theme of his nineties output, Nuuk takes its name from the capital of Greenland, and fittingly so, given its vast, spacious and deceptively sparse tracks. Haunted soundscapes which feel oddly comforting, organic and never-ending, Nuuk is a sonic voyage through uncharted depths.
