With a fondness for lingering over the ideas of geography in his work, as well as a focus on visual narratives, Thomas Koner’s career has been an exemplary case in point. As one half of Porter Ricks and as a sound artist, film editor and sound engineer, his work finds limitless depths. ‘Novaya Zemlya’ is an archipelago in the Arctic Ocean at the north of Russia and the protagonist of Koner’s latest release on Touch, a metaphysical tracing of glowing drones and the bare-bones of underlying melody and harmony.
