Since their mid-nineties, IDM experiments on Rephlex, D’Arcangelo have remained a singular act in the rich landscape of Italian dance music. Tweaking Paper has the same exploratory aura that defines most of their output, and by now they have the formula down to a tee. Otherworldly modulations, distorted drum machine hits and acid squiggles, all set against delicate synth backdrops. The D’Arcangelo brothers have a knack of making their music sound, at once, retro and decisively futuristic. A quality which makes their records find favour amongst many generations of dance music aficionados.
