French producer Ruby My Dear returns to the Analogical Force label for yet another sterling collection of tripped-out broken (perhaps ironically) entitled the Smooth Working EP. As with prior RMD release on Analogical Force, Smooth Working finds him dismantling and reassembling hard-charging breaks and industrial strength rave stabs in ways primed to confuse and amuse dancers at every turn. First single ‘Calx’ opens somewhere between tech-step and classic Belgian hardcore before slipping into a third gear so unstably fast it could punish even the most dedicated steppers, and the energy rarely secedes from there.
