ROADBLOCKS represents the combined powers of Vladislav Delay and Max Loderbauer, two long-runners in the synthesis and electronic music game. Largely improvised and recut into the abstract shapes we hear on this LP, these tracks take elements of techno — crisp and popping percussion, buoyant chords — and forego any conventional sense of 4/4 rhythms to craft sonic landscapes of somnambulant strangeness. ROADBLOCKS at once sounds classic yet totally modern, and we wouldn’t expect anything less from these guys.
