Klavier, the new link-up between Bas Grossfeldt and Simian Mobile Disco’s Jas Shaw, is a set of weighty and dense dub-techno extractions. The more abstract numbers here hover like a cloud of Gas (we’re talking Wolfgang Voigt) while also occasionally glitching in a manner that recalls Oval’s sonorous fractures. The fogs don’t clear when beats are introduced to Klavier - indeed, such tracks only make the pair’s love of Basic Channel more prominent.
