A truly unique record, this. Now reissued by Oren Ambarchi's Black Truffle, She’s More Wild… was created in the 1980s by (deep breath) David Behrman, Paul DeMarinis, Fern Friedman, Terri Hanlon and Anne Klingensmith, a group of artists centred around legendary NYC avant-garde/punk venue The Kitchen. This record finds various female voices delivering spoken/sung texts in which they both embody and satirise classic stereotypes from Western movies - ranchers, renegades, cowboys, that sort of thing. Throw in some electronic backing tracks that take a very leftfield approach to synth-pop and you have yourself the sort of record that only comes about once in a lifetime.
