Cabaret Voltaire fans have been waiting a long, long time to hear this one. Chance Versus Causality was composed by the seminal industrial group for a film in the late 1970s. The band never saw the film either before or after writing the music - after sending the tapes off to Italy they never heard from director Babette Mondini, and the footage is extremely difficult to locate these days. Fortunately we now have the music to hand courtesy of Mute Records. This set of serrated-edge electronics, sputtering drum machines and needling drones is exactly the sort of stuff that Cabaret Voltaire built their house on all those years ago.
