The decade between 1976 and 1986 was an exciting time for soul. Genres that were directly descended from it - funk, boogie, disco and so on - were cross-pollinating in exciting ways. Such was the demand for new sounds that the record industry began churning out singles at a rate of knots. With so much music coming out it was inevitable that some releases would slip through the cracks.
