RVNG Intl. release an ode to Ethiopian music from Mikael Seifu. Being RVNG, this isn’t as straightforward as it sounds: Seifu builds on the traditional regional folk music of his home city Addis-Ababa and introduces concepts from the avant-garde styles of international electronic music that he studied on a university placement in the USA. The result is quite a hypnotic and spiritual jazz sound that still sounds proudly Ethiopian and utterly enthralling.
