Today, Tropic of Cancer is a solo project of Camella Lobo, but previously she worked on it in collaboration with Silent Servant. Their ghostly hybrid of post-punk, industrial, gothic pop, and techno found a home on Downwards, who issued their earliest singles before the duo signed to Blackest Ever Black. Now, Blackest Ever Black are reissuing those singles for Downwards, which have long been out of print and which are highly sought after. There’s a Lynchian quality to some of the music on here, with a song like ‘Victims’ recalling the scuzzy rock of Angelo Badalamenti’s ‘The Pink Room’.
