Always a cause for celebration, Thundercat drops a new release via his spiritual home Brainfeeder. Still riding high off of the enduring sounds of Apocalypse as well as his midas touch finding its way on to Kendrick’s To Pimp A Butterfly and Kamasi Washington’s still perplexing The Epic, this mini-album finds Thundercat at his introspective but cosmic best. With some instrumental contributions from jazz juggernaut Washington, cuts like Them Changes continue that silky freeform sound which got pinned down on Apocalypse but the creative positivity is audible on this release. Crisp vocals, meandering melodies all carried by world-class production. A post-Apocalypse paradise.
