German experimental artist Robert Henke continues his five-part V L S I series under the Monolake moniker with this beat-led EP for his own Imbalance Computer Music stable. Dystopia does a good job of living up to its title, with desolate synth melodies and clattering percussive sounds. As a centrepiece, Error is a stirring bit of heavy industrial ambience before Crash returns to the fast-lane for an eyes-down techno finale. A whirlwind new instalment ahead of Henke’s long-player later in the year.
