Monolake makes a hugely welcome return with X I E the first new material from Robert Henke since 2012's Ghosts LP, three tracks that strip down the recent industrial techno movement into a 12" of epic dub techno breakbeat workouts that could have only come out of Berlin. Henke wears the industrial tropes of the city on his sleeve (especially with the heartbeat kick of Ethernet) but there’s an unmistakable sense of grandeur and ambition on this release that transcends it’s birthplace.
