Irish producer Colin Cloughley makes his long-awaited return on Offshoot. A follow up to 2010’s Corrosion, IV, sees anodyne go back to his IDM roots with twelve cuts of dark and industrial electronica, taking influence from early Black Dog and Autechre. IV mixes analogue bass together with haunting strings (as on unsettling opener ‘Hidden Complex (Fold 1)’), vocoder manipulated voices (on ‘Closer’) and breakbeat rhythms.
